“Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights.” (Exodus 24:18 NIV84)
What an interesting comparison and contrast. In the Old Testament Moses went up into the Mountain of God, and in the New Testament Jesus went out into the wilderness. Moses spent 40 days and 40 nights with the Lord, and Jesus spent 40 days and 40 nights being tempted by Satan. During Moses’ 40 days, he received the word of God on tablets of stone. During Jesus’ 40 days, He defended the word of God. Moses spent his time receiving the truth, while Jesus spent His time defending the truth. But either way, it ended up being about God and His word of truth.
Whether you find yourself living the mountain-top lifestyle or stuck alone in the wilderness, rest assured you can rely upon the word of God. The certainty of God’s word does not change because our circumstances change. He promises in His word that His word will supply us all that we need no matter the circumstance we face. May God’s word of truth guide, govern and protect our lives no matter what phase of life we are going through.
