For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. Boldly and without hindrance he preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 28:30, 31 NIV84)

As the book of Acts ends, we find Paul in Rome under house arrest. The Lord has faithfully led him to the city that represents the heart of the Roman culture. For two years Paul has been free to openly share the Gospel with his guards and with all who visit him. Throughout Paul’s life, God was faithful to open doors for his ministry. He preached the Gospel to Jews and Gentiles alike. He preached against much opposition but preached nonetheless. The Lord made it possible for him to testify to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to Roman leaders like Herod and King Agrippa. The Lord was faithful to provide His faithful servant opportunities to spread the Gospel.

The point of this devotion is to stress that if we are willing to be used by God, He will faithfully open doors for us. Our job is to offer ourselves to God as instruments at His disposal, and He will do the rest. May we, like Paul, be willing to be used by God in service for His kingdom.

Peace!

Pastor Tom
