“Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; Awake as in the days of old, the generations of long ago. Was it not You who cut Rahab in pieces, Who pierced the dragon? Was it not You who dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep; Who made the depths of the sea a pathway for the redeemed to cross over? ” (Isaiah 51:9–10, NAS)

This verse answers the question, who are you going to turn to in your hour of need and why?  Isaiah is stating that there is enough evidence in the past of God’s amazing works of deliverance that He should be the one, the only one, for us to turn to in our time of need. No one else can be credited for the wonderful acts of mercy and grace that our forefathers experienced. The Lord may seem to be silent this time. It might feel like He is not hearing your cries for help. Don’t deceive yourself. He is there. He is listening. He does care. He will act to meet your need in His perfect time.

This is when we need to use our eyes of faith.  We need to see and believe what our earthly eyes fail to see. This isn’t a blind leap of faith. What Isaiah is telling us is that we have centuries of history to support our use of our eyes of faith in these situations. God has always been faithful to His promises.  He has never failed to meet the needs of His people in their time of need.

Today, let’s look back at God’s faithfulness and bring that certainty into our present.

Peace!
