“I am the Lord, I have called You in righteousness, I will also hold You by the hand and watch over You, And I will appoint You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the nations, To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the dungeon And those who dwell in darkness from the prison. “I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. ” (Isaiah 42:6–8, NASB95)you b

This portion of the Messianic prophecy is a wonderful discussion between the Father and the Son.  The Father describes His call and direction for His Son.  I love the section which says, “I will also hold you by the hand and watch over you.”  What a wonderful depiction of the loving relationship between the Father and the Son.  Now, look deeper within the prophecy.  See Jesus’ ministry described in detail.  He will be a light to the nations.  He will bring prisoners out of their dark prisons.  Brothers and sisters, this is exactly what Jesus has done for each of us.  Through His redemptive work on the cross He has set us free from all that binds us.  His Holy Spirit created faith in our hearts and made us born again.

It is because of this wonderful work of compassion and grace that He will not share His glory with another.  The praises due His name are for Him alone and no one else.  We commit the most grievous of sins when we minimize the works of God and give credit due Him to the natural framework of our world.

Today, be clear about God’s great love for you and His redemptive work on your behalf.  Give Him the proper praise and honor due His work of grace in you.

“Amen!  Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever!  Amen! “(Rev. 7:12)

Peace!

Pastor Tom
