“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. ” (Isaiah 40:28, NASB95)

I am sure you can tell that Isaiah’s questions are rhetorical.  Of course they have heard and known that God is the creator of all things and that He never gets weary of providing for His children and that His understanding is perfect.  These facts have been handed down since the beginning.  Since Adam and Eve, these facts have been handed down through the patriarchs.  So, why now this need for the rhetorical questions?  Because Isaiah’s contemporaries have forgotten these things.  They are living their lives like they never heard and didn’t know these eternal truths about God.  They are living lives that are self-centered and self-guided.  They actually have convinced themselves that they have a better way.  Sound familiar?

Wow!  What an amazing parallel to today’s worldview.  We have reached the point where we really think we are at the center of the universe and that the answers to all the important questions in life reside within ourselves.  How insane!  If we had the answers, we wouldn’t have to raise the questions.  How absurd it is to think that man is the measure and definer of all things, when in fact, his knowledge is so limited. He is the one with a million questions.  When are we going to wake up as a society and realize that our worldview is flawed?  The answer has to be outside ourselves.  As a child grows up, he must ask his parents a million questions.  The child knows that the answer is outside of himself.  Imagine a parent never answering a question and telling the child to discover the answer for themselves.  This approach would only lead to confusion and chaos.

Let’s not forget that we have an omniscient heavenly Father who provides for our needs every moment of every day.  He wants you to turn to Him for the answers to your questions.  He promises to answer them as a loving Father to His child.
